Do you ever....

...worry that you are saying your thoughts out loud? Like, especially if you're in a quiet place. Maybe your brain is going a hundred miles an hour and you're thinking about all kinds of things. Do you ever stop and think to yourself "did I say anything out loud?"

Maybe that's just me. Of course, I'm obsessive and paranoid. It wouldn't be as bad if I didn't think of so much wierd shit. I can't imagine what people would think if they heard some of the things that go on in my head.

Thing is... I've heard a few people mumble things to themselves as they are thinking and I'm not sure if they know they do it. If they don't, then would I realize if I was doing it?

Coming soon... big night out in KC

Alright, after a small (read: large) problem with my PC, I'm back online. I could explain what went wrong, but it'd be exceptionally geeky and a lot of people would probably stop reading there. So, I'll save that for later.

I just got back from having a nice couple drinks at Kona Grill, down on the plaza here in KC, along with some Spice Tuna sushi rolls and some potstickers. For those who aren't familiar, Kona Grill is a bar/restaurant that kinda does the whole pacific rim thing. It has sushi (for which it is probably most noted), specialty pizzas (best bbq chicken pizza around), potstickers, maui tacos, and so on. For me, it is most notable for it's sake bombs. A flask of sake and a large size (not like the kind you normally get) bottle of Kirin Ichiban, my favorite beer. During happy hour, they have pretty damn good prices on this stuff. They have a regular and reverse happy hour - both of which I'm happy to attend. Depending on the day, you may have to fight for a seat in the bar, but it's worth it. If you are a KC resident, definitely feel free to send me an invite to go, if you're interested. I have trouble turning it down.

On a somewhat related note, I've been thinking for a while about having a little gathering. I had originally debated about just having a house party - but I want something a bit more. I'm at my house all the time. I want to be out and about.

I'm still coming up for a name for this event - something like the first annual KC ... something, something. I dunno yet. But, anyway, it's like a huge pub crawl of sorts. We'll get a bunch of people and just go around to some of the best places in the KC area to party, have a few drinks, and just have a good time. The key here is that we'll make plans on this being an all-out, all-night thing. By that, I mean we'll arrange for taxis or a driver and a van or whatever, so we don't worry about driving or getting into any trouble. I'm talking about going all out.

While the idea had somewhat occurred to me before, it really took shape after a friend and I went out to Kona last week. We finished at the early Kona happy hour and, weather being nice, decided to walk from the Plaza to Westport to go to McCoy's, to which we hadn't been in a while. If you're from here, you're saying "that's a helluva walk". For our lazy midwest asses, yes. If you've lived on a large college campus before, this wouldn't be anything more than the worst you've seen. So, we went to McCoy's, had a couple pitchers of their "unfilitered" wheat beer. I put that in quotes because I could see through the goddamned thing. That doesn't look unfilitered to me (luckily, their rasberry wheat is still good, so I still recommend the place). We finished up at McCoy's, walked back to our car on the Plaza and I noted that it was just about time for the late Kona happy hour. I was expecting my friend to say no to going back to Kona. However, he was all for it. So, we went back and had even more there and talked to some people and whatnot. I was, of course, driven home that night (always be careful to get a driver if you've had too many drinks), but the point is that we let go a bit and had a great night. I want to take that to the next level and share it with a bunch of friends.

So, plans are still in progress. Many questions to go. When to plan this event? Where are the stops on this trip? What are the travel arrangements? I will, of course, invite all my friends. I encourage anyone else who reads this to let me know if they'd like to participate and include any friends you have also. I'll send info to everyone once I figure out what's going on.

Be prepared....

Let's try this again...

Ok. Reset.

So.... here I am, bringing the site back from the dead. Not sure what my current constituency is or will be, but for those that were not visitors before, a little background. I used to run a movie review site here at HellNinjaCommando. Specifically, it focused on asian movies (mostly HK and Korean, but a few Japanese movies thrown in for good measure). I did fairly well for myself during that time period, especially as there was a good community in that area. We even put together an "alliance" to protest Disney/Miramax's (under the direction of the Weinsteins) butchering and re-dubbing of asian films to which they had purchased the rights. Got some national attention and we like to think that some of the recent changes in viewpoints from the Weinsteins is at least partially attributed to our efforts.....

However, I finished college, moved to Kansas City, and kept updating the site for a year or so before I got busy with work and other things in my life. I let the rest of the web pass my little corner by, as they all went Web 2.0. All these kids with their blogs and MySpace pages and whatnot. Y'know, back in my day, we wrote regular (non-dynamic) html pages in notepad for viewing in Netscape Navigator 3... and hosted them on free Geocities and Tripod accounts. And we liked it. Up hill, both ways. Yeah - frames, now those were hot shit. Hope your browser supported them, cause all the cool new sites were using 'em. Didn't wanna get left behind. Ok, enough of me being an old man (in internet years). I have an archive of my old site, so in the future I may give some peeks here and there at some of the old content... if you care at all.

Anyway, past being the past, now I've got some changes happening in my life (we'll get to those another day). It's given me some motivation. So, I'm back - I'm ready to express my self. Not like one of those emo kids or anything, but just to shoot the shit and talk about the random crap that I think of (don't worry - not all of it). I might talk about life and the universe and existentialism.... or I might talk about my bathroom habits. Could go either way. Games, movies, and sports will surely be recurring topics. Just whatever - random stuff.

By the way, please excuse the plain-ness of the site at the moment. Still need to take some time to devote to really designing it out. For now, I just tried to get a decent color scheme and I'll be happy with that for a while. Maybe this weekend, I'll get to play with it some more.

Lots of things to talk about from the recent past. Election in full swing again, for better or worse. Oh, and the Cards.. my boys in St. Louis... interesting winter for them. I'll need to devote a whole separate post to my thoughts on this off-season, especially in light of the recent Rolen-Glaus trade. But, I won't blow my whole load right now. Gotta save some topics... spread them out, cause I'm sure I won't be all that inspired every damn day. My life isn't that interesting.

Well, I've wasted enough minutes of your life for now, if you've made it this far. I'll leave it at that. So, uh, bye.... or something.

Goddammit!!!

Sorry for the language, especially this being my first post and all, but I'm pissed. I spent all this time jacking with the blogging software, jumping through a bunch of hoops just to get back to square one. Finally get in and write up what I thought was a good damn first post, go to save - BAM - error. So, I wasted all that time, lost the text I had entered, and now it's fucking late (12:30 AM - way later than I planned on being up.) So, I won't be able to get it back up tonight.

I'm going to bed... sorry folks. Hopefully tomorrow's post will be nicer... a proper intro post.
